- Dark Pattern

- De-federate
- The act of decentralized sites blocking other sites that they otherwise can interoperate well with, often to avoid unwanted behavior or poor moderation.

- Edge-dominant software
- Software that by itself has no content, and instead relies on users to provide content that can then be served to others. Platforms for users to share content with others.
- Enshittification

- Federate
- Joining two systems together such that their users can see and interact with each other, often through a protocol that both systems' software can speak.

- Instance
- A specific server/community that you can join, often running a commonly used piece of software.

- Protocol
- An agreed-upon language that software can speak, in order to communicate with other software and in turn exchange information.
V
- Vanity domain
- A website name or address that is picked on purpose due to its apparent vanity in some social circles, often due to it being funny to the target audience.
